Khilafat In Theory & Practice

The Khilafah, Islamic institution of governance based on the Qur’an and the Sunnah in fact signifies the succession of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), for the Khalifah succeeded in all his offices excepting that of his Prophetic duties which were prerogative of his not shared by anyone. The Muslim political and juristic writings regarding the issues that emerged since the Abbasi period have been discussed in the historical perspective. This book is to acquaint the students of Islamic political thought with the true nature of the Khilafah, its concept and development on the basis of the Qur’an, Sunnah and historical narrations. In this study an attempt is made to have a discussion on the whole period of the Khilafah.
