A Manual of Practical Cataloguing

Based on AACR2, the work is intended to be self-sufficient for cataloguing practice in the interpretation and application of rules for descriptive information and choice of access points for the book and non-book materials. It is primarily written for the students and teachers of library science but is equally useful for practising catalloguers. Keeping in view the practical difficulties of the cataloguers the work is meticulously divided into different chapters to help locate rules and the relevant speciment catalogue cards for personal authorship, corporate bodies, serials, uniform titles, added entries and analytical added entires etc. Multi-volumed printed monographs, and works published in series are dealt in detail. Fully designated sample catalogue cards appended with each chapter amply demonstrative the technique of making almost all kinds of catalogue entries. The cumbersome exercise of “see referencing” for the location of descriptive information or the choice of access points, found in the AACR2 is eliminated and the rules repeated where found necessary. The work is indispensable for small and big libraries, information centres, and for academic institutions.
